The USPTO officially issued and published a new patent number #7,321,783 on Jan. 22, 2008

Jan  22,  2008

We are very proud to announce that The United States Patent Office(USPTO) officially issued and published a new patent number, #7,321,783.  With all of the features that it covers, it will not only make cell phone history, but US Patent History as well.

This patent was previously allowed and scheduled to issue on August 7, 2007.  However, due to the objection of Apple, Inc., makers of the iPhone, and Sony-Ericsson Communication, we filed a petition to withdraw the previous patent number, #7,254,416, just one day before its publication date, and asked the Patent Office to re-examine the patent in light of the prior art presented by Apple and Sony-Ericsson, and also in light of the new patent rules and guidelines that followed the recent Supreme Court decision in KSR v. Teleflex. For the reexamination, we spent an extra $60,000.00 in attorney's fees, delaying the new patent issue for six months.

But finally, we have been informed that all 125 claims were again allowed by the USPTO over the prior art submitted by Apple and Sony-Ericsson!

For the past twelve years we have invested our time, energy, and over $1,000,000.00 in legal fees to support our case, not including the trial attorney's fees.  We are very gratified that the patent office has finally granted this most important patent.

It should be noted that virtually all cell phone makers and carriers are enjoying significantly greater profit thanks to our recently patented features.

Yet regardless of the victory of the patent litigation, we believe we have already achieved our primary objective by having people all over the world using our features in their phones.  We believe this is a great contribution to the technological world.

We also believe that there is no better justice system than in the United States as far as intellectual property is concerned.  Minerva has additional patent applications pending before the USPTO, and we are eagerly expecting the USPTO to grant us additional patents in the very near future.

May this year bring health and happiness to you all, and please keep our corporation and our efforts in your prayers as we prepare for this upcoming year of harvest.

Sincerely,

John Ki Kim
