Patent infringement suit filed by Minerva Industries, Inc

June 6, 2007

Minerva Industries, Inc. filed a major patent infringement suit against about 44 companies including Nokia, Sony-Erickson, Samsung and Motorola in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on June 6, 2007.

In 2006, over 1 billion cellphone were sold worldwide and only 160 million (16%) of these cellphone were sold in the U.S. alone.

Most of the cellphone were imported from foreign countries which possess at least ONE of the claimed features. Surprisingly an additional 50 million U.S visitors from the remaining 84% of the foreign market utilizes core features in the U.S without ever paying licensing fees.

"In consideration of this fact, it is our goal to pursue legal action to maximize compensation beyond the typical 5.5 to 6% fees in royalties"- John K, Kim
