CEO's Memo

Year 2004 will be the most promising year in my 39 years of business experience.

In 1975, then my company, Keytronics, Inc., developed the first wireless car alarm and CB Radio, and in 1978, the cordless home phone. Those products were manufactured and distributed throughout the United States. However, these products had a limited market due to the restrictions of each country's communications policy.

In 1996, I had a multi-function cell phone designed, looking 10 years ahead. My company obtained a U.S. patent for this product, which won world-wide recognition in the global market as the most advanced cell phone technology. Currently, approximately 500 million cell phones utilizing our patent-related technology are being sold annually throughout the world.

We, Minerva Industries, Inc., are proud of multi-function cell phones not only for the company but also for the United States. It is particularly fortunate, considering the fact that almost all cell phones have been manufactured in foreign countries and imported to the U.S. and that the patents related to cell phones are retained by many foreign countries.

The cell phones in the United States are not equipped with the 3G's moving image features, unlikely to those sold in Korea or in Japan. When the sensors are added onto cell phones, it will powerfully enhance the utility of cell phones by contributing to crime prevention and thereby reducing loss of human life. It won't be long when many industry fields will adopt the sensor function as the main feature of their product.

I was motivated to develop a multi-function cell phone when I observed Rodney King and O.J. Simpson cases. I found that the ability to produce on-site live video evidence can determine the future of multi-billion dollar case. Having an immediately available means, like a cell phone, to instantly record audio and video at the scene of accident will tremendously help preventing loss of life, by facilitating speedy reaction at the scene of crimes. In addition, investigation and the arrest of the criminals would be accelerated.

To give an illustration, the multi-function cell phone works as follows at a crime scene:

When incidents like theft or robbery takes place at cash-dealing businesses such as bank tellers, post offices, liquor stores or markets, the multi-function cell phone is enabled to record the activity of thief or robber on the spot. The cell phone can be set up for voice activation to automatically call 911 emergency by simply saying, for example, "OK" or "No." At the same time, the caller's picture ID and GPS(global position system) are transmitted to the police, therefore, the police would be already informed of what's going on before arriving.

This feature will greatly help reducing the errors of shooting or arresting wrong individuals. Furthermore, it would be possible that the transmitted video can be broadcast at local TV networks, depending on the arrangement with the TV stations, thereby the arrest of the criminals can be easier and faster. Even in the case when the criminal took the cell phone away, the on-site recorded video information would have been already transmitted to the police.

In comparison with our cell phone eight years ago, 3G multi-function cell phone has as many as 23 patent-related features to maximize customer satisfaction. Many current cell phones in today's market have adopted our patent-related features. Our multi-function cell phone is equipped with a camcorder to be used as a wireless studio, for entertainment and communication purposes and even security.

Wireless charger & holder

The universal charger & holder is also a product of our vision, looking at least five years ahead. For those wanting to shoot images of the drivers view or send the images of themselves while driving, Minerva Industries, Inc., has provided a universal charger & holder to fit in any dashboard of a vehicle. This is a wireless charger & holder for the 3G or any other camera cell phones to be fixed at any vehicle, to shoot images, without the use of hands. A U.S. patent is pending for this product.

The universal charger & holder is designed to be used for all cell phones. Each year, millions of cell phone chargers are dumped away. Not only the universal charger/holder is convenient for the users, for getting rid of the need for a different charger for a new cell phone, but also it will reduce economic waste and environmental pollution. The cell phone manufacturers and car manufacturers should cooperate with each other to install the universal charger & holder, so that our environment can be saved. We believe that the cell phone charger in the U.S. will be gradually unified with our universal charger & holder.
